On a recommendation from a fellow worker checked out her newest book The Peach Keeper. This was so enjoyable I just wanted to read Allen's three previous books. Put this author's name on your list for your summer reading! Sixkill by Robert Parker with Spenser doing his investigative stuff doesn't add up to his previous novels. Just pass this one by. Another bestseller by David Baldacci is the 6th Man. With so many twists and turns to the story Baldacci has another masterpiece thriller to entertain so many of us.

Book 13 in the Alex Cooper series

What a thriller: Linda Fairstein's latest book - Silent Mercy.
With Prosecutor Alexandra Cooper we discover Manhattan's
churches provide a link between the murder victims. Some would say this is cheating but I disagree. The tradition of oral storytelling goes back further than the written word and plus, I'm really busy! I have two teenage girls who, thankfully, like to spend time with me, so as a result, I may not have read the latest NY Times bestseller but I can tell you what happened on the last episode of Glee! Yet, I'm still a librarian so I have to get my stories somehow and that is, of late, in the car; the only time I'm alone.
My latest reads, no, make that "listens" have been two autobiographical audio books by Lisa Scottoline. You probably know her for her crime fiction, but here she takes a hard and humorous look at her life. There are her 5 dogs and 2 cats she lives with, her "octogenarian" mother, Mother Mary, her gay brother, Frank and her beloved, out of the nest daughter, Francesca. Oh, and her two ex-husbands, Thing one andThing two. The stories are full of love and laughter. So check out Why My Next Husband Will be a Dog and My Nest Isn't Empty, It Just has More Closet Space by Lisa Scottoline. You'll be glad you did!

P.S. Of course, you can read them but I recommend the audio book narrated by the author, she's great!

C.J. I didn't realize how disconnected we were until my daughter texted me from the next room to see when dinner was going to be ready! So when I was looking for books to buy for the library, this title jumped out at me, The Winter of Our Disconnect by Susan Maushart.
The author bravely turns off (literally) all technology in the house and lives to tell the tale! She starts by shutting down the electricity and then gradually adds back basic modern conveniences. This book provides insight into how all of us, not just teens, have been sucked into the age of faceless interaction with our fellow human beings. Heady stuff, but always delivered with a sense of humor!
